Men and Non-Binary Welfare

The welfare of Men and Non-Binary people is a very important issue that can so often be overlooked. At Pembroke, we aim to create a community in which everyone feels empowered to take charge of their wellbeing and support one another in leading healthier, more fulfilling lives.

If you have any concerns or need someone to talk to, please contact the JP Men’s & Non-Binary Welfare Officer at jp-mens@pem.cam.ac.uk. Please know that you can reach out at anytime!

Also know that other forms of welfare support are available in college, including your tutor and the College Nurses as well as a college counselling service. Please feel free to utilise the full welfare team, whether that be, for example, the BME Officer or the Disabled Students’ officer.

Sexual Health

There is a wide range of sexual health services available in college and on a wider scale:

The Welfare Box: Located in the corridor outside the JP and bar (bottom of N staircase), the welfare box is stocked with free sexual health supplies for any member of college to use.

Self STI Testing: At least once during the year, typically at the freshers week bop, take home STI testing kits are provided. These may also be available in the welfare box at other points during the year.

Lime Tree STI Clinic: For a routine screening, free STI testing kits can be ordered from, www.sh.uk. If you are unable to order a kit online, or have any sexual health symptoms, the Lime Tree Clinic can be contacted at 0300-300-3030.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month is observed in November, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the mental health challenges faced by men, and encouraging open conversations and support.

Movember: Movember is a global campaign that uses mustache-growing as a symbol to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues.

College Events: Throughout November, we aim to run a series of events in college, such as bar nights or best moustache competitions, to encourage open discussion about mental health struggles.
